The Starlight Lounge Saturday Traditional 50's Rock and Roll Dance Classes are available to anyone wanting to learn
50's rock n roll dancing, those wanting to learn a different dance style, and/or for those wanting to add a new style their
existing 50's R'n'R dance repertoire.

The Starlight Lounge 50's Rock and Roll dance classes are held Saturday mornings from 11AM-12PM.

Our Saturday morning 50's style Rock 'n' Roll dance classes offers a beginners 6 week block in traditional 4 step 50's style
Rock 'n' Roll in a fun, friendly and 50's diner atmosphere. People of all ages and all dance experience levels are most welcome.

As this is an easy Rock 'n' Roll dance style to learn, students can join in with the class up to 2 weeks into the dance block.

Those interested in starting after 2 weeks in to a new block will need to start at the beginning of the next new block.

We will be introducing more dance class styles based on public demand.

Other dance class styles we can provide include: 6 step 50's Rock 'n' Roll, Swing Jive, Slow Swing, and Lindy Hop.

Time: 11:00AM - 12:00PM Saturday. (Closed public holidays.)

Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the commencement of your dance class.

Starlight Lounge Saturday Schedule:

• Doors open: 10AM
• Beginners 50's R 'n' R dance class: 11AM - 12PM
• Beginners Swing dance class: 12:15PM - 1:15PM
• Saturday Night Social Dance: 6:30PM - 11:00PM
• Closed Saturday public holidays

Dance Class Preparation:

• Arrive 10-15 minutes before class starts
• Comfortable loose fitting clothing
• Leather sole, closed in shoes
• Personal water bottle
• Perspiration Towel / Sweat towel
• Personal Care: Deodorant & Mints

Frequently Asked Questions.

• Do I need to have a dance partner?

It is best to have a regular or permanent dance partner as it makes learning so much easier and faster.

With saying that, we do have a limited number of "spare" leader and follower dance partners available
that can help out from time to time. They cannot be considered permanent or reliable dance partners as they
volunteer their time and can often be unavailable from one week to the next.



• Do I really need leather sole shoes? I only have sneakers.

Shoes with a leather sole provide the most comfort for ankles, knees and hips while dancing, so it is preferred.

If you don't have a pair of leather sole shoes you may be able to find a cheap pair at op shops. EG Salvos, Vinnies, etc.

Alternatively you can get a pair of Dance socks (aka shoe socks), these fit over your synthetic sole shoes and will provide
a frictionless dance sole, perfect for when dancing in sneakers and alike. Once you are certain you want to continue with
your dancing you can then look at investing in a pair of traditional leather sole dance shoes.
